Haroold Lloyd Wagner, 77, of Burlington, died at 8:20 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born July 17, 1925, in New London he was the son of Bert e. and Mildred Bessie Sullivan Wagner. on June 16, 1951, he married Bonnie J. Schmitz in Monmouth, Ill. Mr. Wagner was a service repair technician for Sears for 40 years. He retired in 1987. He was a graduate of New London High School and commercial Refrigeration School in Chicago. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Eagles, Moose Lodge, held many state offices for the 40 and 8 and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, motorcycles, camping and wintering in Arizona. He was a World War II Air Force veteran with the rank of staff sergeant/nose gunner. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Harold "Buzz" Wagner of Burlington, Randy Wagner Sr. of Mount Pleasant and Marvin Merritt of Seattle, Wash.; one daughter, Connie Daniel of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one stepsister, Lytle Goodwater of Cedar Rapids; and his stepmother, Alma Wagner of New London. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will begin after noon today at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Wagner will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel, with Pastor Charles Stevens officiating. Burial with military rites by VFW Posts 10102, 9162, American Legion Post 52 and the Marine Corps League will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
