William "Bill" Wagler, 90, of Burlington, Iowa died 5:10 a.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at his residence.
Born March 5, 1927 in Burlington, Iowa he was the son of Benjamin and Esther (Dietsch) Wagler. He married Marjorie J. Keever on March 12, 1949. She preceded him in death on July 5, 2017.
He worked as an electrician for JI Case for 17 years, retiring in 1992. He previously worked for Sylvania and IAAP. He attended the New Life Family Church and was member of the IBEW.
He loved fishing and hunting and outdoor activities, camping, boating and spending time with his family.
He is survived by two sons: Randall Wagler and Kevin Wagler both of Burlington; two grandchildren, Brooke Wagler and Aaron Brunsell of Burlington; one great granddaughter Summer Champagne of Burlington; one brother, Paul (Wendy) Wagler of Burlington; two sisters, Dana (Jim) Weiss of Burlington and Karen (Jim) Schemmel of Mt. Vernon, IA; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one son Ronald and one sister, Phyllis.
The funeral service for Mr. Wagler will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 4th at Lunning Chapel. Pastor Richard Dutzer will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 3rd in Lunning Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:00 p.m.
Memorials have been established for Des Moines County Humane Society and New Life Family Church.
