Frances Irene Vollmer, 92, of Burlington, died at 9:35 AM Thursday, February 3, 2011, at the Great River Medical Center - Klein Center in Burlington.
Born November 21, 1918, in Oakville, IA, she was the daughter of David James and Rosa Etta Hinson Bowman. On December 27, 1940, she married Dorain Harry Vollmer in Burlington. He died December 20, 1981.
Frances had worked in retail.
She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She collected angels, loved to sew, write stories, poems and talk with friends.
Survivors include one daughter, Teresa (Tim) Marano of Lakewood, CO; one son-in-law, Dale Isaac of Elk Grove, CA; two grandsons, Aaron and Jason Marano; and three great-grandchildren, Austin, Madison and Ryleigh Marano.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Lorraine.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mrs. Vollmer will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor D. Dean Benton officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
