Doris Van Order Timmerman, 81, of Burlington, died at 6:20 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2008, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born February 5, 1927, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Arthur and Edna Tisor Louck. In March, 1950, she married Ralph Van Order. In June, 1990 she married Robert D. Timmerman in Reno, Nevada. He died August 15, 2001. Mrs. Timmerman worked at Advance Ross Electronics until they closed. She worked at LaMont Ltd. 15 years, retiring in 1991. She attended Burlington schools. She was of the Protestant faith. She was a member of Women of the Moose and Golden Oldies. Survivors include one son, Kenny Van Order of Burlington; two stepsons, Kevin Timmerman and Tracy Timmerman, both of Burlington; one stepdaughter, Carol Sterenstein of Deerfield, IL; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters. Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The body has been cremated. The graveside funeral for Mrs. Timmerman will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, with the Rev. Paul Backhaus officiating. A memorial has been established.
