Charles O. Blaufuss, 83, of Burlington, died at 6:55 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at his home. Born September 26, 1927, in Burlington, he was the son of Herbert and Helen Senti Blaufuss. On June 5, 1955, he married Deloris Ullrich in Burlington. Mr. Blaufuss worked 37-plus years for J.I. Case in Burlington, and retired as a manufacturing engineer in 1988. He graduated from Burlington High School, Burlington Junior College, and earned a bachelor of science degree at Iowa State College. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Luke United Church of Christ, where he served as a consistory member, a teacher, superintendent and recording secretary of the church school. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Deborah Blaufuss of Burlington; four sons, Stephen Blaufuss of Hillsboro, Ore., Craig Blaufuss of Webster City, Kurt Schaller Blaufuss of North Olmsted, Ohio, and Erich Blaufuss of Eurika, MO; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington, where family will receive friends. The funeral for Mr. Blaufuss will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Vicki Engelmann officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials have been established for St. Luke United Church of Christ and Great River Hospice.
