Paul Warren Bonewitz, 67-year-old chairman of the board of Bonewitz Chemicals, died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, in Burlington Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health for nine months.
Bonewitz was a past present of National Feed Ingredients Assn. and was also a former president of Burlington Baseball Assn. and was also a former lieutenant in the Iowa National Guard.
Mr. Bonewitz, whose home was at 2407 Madison Ave., had been a resident of Burlington since 1930.
He was born Sept. 22, 1903, in Rosendale, Mo., the son of Aubrey and Cecelia Bickett Bonewitz. He was married to Bonnie Marie Davison in Savannah, Mo., on Nov. 16, 1924.
Mr. Bonewitz was cited, 2 ½ years ago, for meritorious service to National Feed Ingredients Assn., in which he had held every office.
Last Jan. 25, it was announced that Paul and Edward Bonewitz would serve as board chairman and president, respectively, of Bonewitz Chemicals, Inc.
The company was established in 1936 as a distributor of industrial chemicals and producer of sanitation products for use in the dairy and food-processing industries.
The company has developed into a major service of the food industry.

Mr. Bonewitz was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and of Burlington Golf Club, Crystal Lake Club. Elks Club, and University Club of St. Louis. He was also a member of the board of directors of Farmers and Merchants Bank and Trust Co.
Surviving: the wife; daughter, Mrs. Betty Rosenkoetter, Burlington; three grandchildren, and four brothers and two sisters; Edward L. Bonewitz, Burlington; Joseph W. Bonewitz, Milwaukee; Kermit Bonewitz, Branson, Mo.; Beryl Bonewitz, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Mary Koellner, Leavenworth, Kan., and Mrs. Edna Diegel of Topeka, Kan.
A son, Warren Bonewitz, was killed in WWII.
Funeral; Prugh’s Chapel at 2 pm Tuesday, Fr. E. William Strauser, Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
