Paul Leo Galvin, 71, of 1122 Smith was found shot to death early Wednesday on South Ninth street just north of Division, beside Bracewell stadium fence. Police said preliminary investigation indicated the death was a suicide. Police and coroner are continuing the investigation. The body was found leaning against the fence about 5:50 a.m. by Ralph Evans, 633 Leffler, West Burlington, a Gustafson Bros. Dairy milk route driver. Police said a .38 caliber revolver was found beside Galvin, one cartridge expended. Galvin was shot in the right temple. There were notes found in Galvin's room addressed to his brothers, Martin and Walter. He had been associated with Martin in Galvin Bros. Plumbing and Heating Service, 1020 South and retired a year ago. Authorities said another note was found at the plumbing establishment, relating to a business matter. Contents of the notes were not disclosed. Galvin was unmarried. He was born Aug. 13, 1887 in Burlington the son of Martin and Victoria Paul Galvin. He was a retired steamfitter and was a member of the Steamfitters local of the Plumbers union. Galvin served in World War I with the army overseas, and was a member of the VFW. Surviving are three brothers, Merle, Martin and Walter Galvin, all of Burlington; and a number of nieces and nephews. The body is at Prugh's chapel. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
