Ruth Marie Tillotson, 89, of Burlington died at 5 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born Feb. 9, 1918, in Wichita, Kan., she was the daughter of Carl Herman and Maude Wallace Crease. On March 1, 1947, she married Wayne L Tillotson in Wichita. He died Feb. 17, 1968. Mrs. Tillotson was the secretary to the publisher at the Wichita Beacon Newspaper for 10 years and later was a homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Church Mary Circle. She was an avid baseball fan, enjoyed baking and reading. Survivors include two sons, James Tillotson of Bettendorf and Danny Tillotson of Burlington; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one infant daughter, three brothers and one sister. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The graveside service for Mrs. Tillotson will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Aspen Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Smith officiating. A memorial has been established.
