Obituary
Bernice Caroline Thye Miller, 93, of Burlington, Iowa passed away at Blair House on August 3, 2012. Bernice was born June 26, 1919, in Burlington, Iowa the daughter of the late William S. Breuer and Mable C.M. Breuer.
The funeral service will be held at Lunning Chapel on Wednesday, August 8 at two o'clock. Time for fellowship will begin at one o'clock prior to the Celebration of Life service. Burial will follow at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Bernice is survived by her step-daughter, June (Miller) Morrison (Richard), her step-grandchildren, Wendy (Morrison) Sheehy (John), and Michael Morrison (Alyson), five step-great grandsons, many nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Fern Breuer, and cousin Geneive Hingst.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husbands Carl Thye and Roy Miller; and siblings Kenneth Breuer, William Breuer, half-sister Eleanor Breuer Rawlings, half-brother Horace Breuer, and half-sister Louise Breuer Klingman. Bernice worked at Schramm's for 30 years, retiring in 1985, was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and Miriam Circle. She was a 47 year member of P.E.O. Chapter KB and the Golden Oldies of Burlington. Bernice loved attending and volunteering at church, traveling with her late husbands Roy Miller and Carl Thye, playing cards with friends, gardening, fishing, watching her favorite Chicago Cubs, and was a talented artist. There are many people to thank for their loving care of Bernice: trips and events with her cousin Geneive, and holiday visits and loving correspondence with her nieces, nephews, siblings and their spouses, the staff at Rosebush Gardens Assisted Living, the staff at Blair House Nursing Home, and Sue Waterman with Great River Home Health and Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that contributions be made to Great River Hospice.
