Tommy Thomas, 72,of Burlington, died at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born February 27, 1935, in Oran, MO, he was the son of Tommy and Queen Esther Sales Thomas. On May 30, 1953, he married Cullie Burrate in Osceola, Ark. Mr. Thomas was pastor of Holy Spirit Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Madison for 26 years. He worked for the City of Burlington Sanitation Department for 20 years. He was Baptist. He enjoyed playing piano, walking, singing, telling jokes and large family gatherings. Survivors include his wife, five sons, Tommy Lee Thomas, Jr. of Columbia, MO, Garry Thomas of Burlington, Jerome Thomas of O'Fallon, MO, Dennis Ray Thomas of Saint Charles, MO, and Greg Thomas of Glendale, Ark.; four daughters, Jo Ann Thomas of Las Vegas, Nev., Bernice Thomas of Washington, Shirley Hollis of Cedar Rapids and Patricia Richardson of High Point, N. C.; 29 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one brother, Johnny Thomas of Cape Girardeau, MO; and one sister, Imogene Hayes. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, one brother and one grandchild. Visitation with family will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Prugh's Chapel with the Revs. Johnny Thomas and Freddie Starling officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.
