Fred Stewart Bissell, 72, of 213 S. Adams, died at 9:03 on Monday in Burlington hospital following an extended illness.
He was born July 2, 1896, at Stewart, Ia., the son of Edward and Josephine Tomkinson Bissell. June 1, 1943, at Kahoka, Mo., he married Gladys Statler.
Mr. Bissell was of the Protestant faith and was a member of the VFW.
Surviving; The wife; one stepdaughter, Viola Maxey, Albuquerque, N.M.; one brother, George, Grand Rapids, Mich; a half-brother, Will Hewett, Des Moines; and a half-sister, Dorothy Deford, Redfield, Ia.
The body is at Prugh’s chapel. Funeral services will be held in Prugh’s Chapel Thursday afternoon at 2:00. Dr. G. Dempster Yinger will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Prugh’s Wednesday evening from 7:30 until 9:00.
