Wanda Inez Weld, 96, of Burlington, died Friday, December 24, 2021, at the Klein Center, West Burlington. She was born October 19, 1925, in Portia, Arkansas to Lawrence and Lacy Gertrude Mitchell King. On October 27, 1945, she married John E. Weld in Hernandez, Mississippi; he died July 19, 2000.
She worked as a supervisor of electronic components at IRC/TRW in Burlington for many years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she did volunteer work, enjoyed playing pinochle and bingo, line dancing, bowling, was an avid reader and she and John enjoyed wintering in Texas.
Survivors include two children, Patricia A. Weld of Burlington and James E. (Sandra) Weld of Franklin, New Hampshire; two grandchildren Jessica and Brandon; four great-grandchildren, Emily, Haley, Brady, and Logan; one half-sister Mary Ann Smiley of Olive Branch, Mississippi; nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
The funeral service for Mrs. Weld will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Elliott Chapel, New London with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service; masks are required. Burial will follow at Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington.
