Mrs. Jacqueline A. Nelson, 78, of Burlington, died at 10:15 AM Thursday, November 11, 2021, at the OakView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington.
Born June 5, 1943, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Merle and Geraldine (Allendorf) (Roasa) (Boyle) Mauer. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1961. On February 18, 1966, she married Jerry Lee Nelson in Biggsville, IL. He preceded her in death on August 1, 2014 after 48 years of marriage.
Jackie served as a legal advocate beginning in 2002 for the YWCA Domestic Violence Shelter and Women's Resource Center, retiring in 2014. She enjoyed shopping, camping with friends and family, and traveling.
Survivors include two daughters, Stacey L. (Mike) Meyer and Lynnie (Scott) Krogmeier; two grandchildren, Blake Nelson and Kennedy Krogmeier; two great-grandsons, Noah Nelson and Hunter Smith-Nelson; and her canine companion, Maizie. All family members reside in Burlington.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Per Jackie's wishes cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory. The family will hold a private inurnment at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
