Steven Anthony Thompson, Sr., 57, of Burlington, died at 5:28 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born September 24, 1950, in Peoria, IL, he was the son of Cloud H. and Joanne Florang Thompson. On September 27, 1971, he married Diana Lorraine Stephenson in Oquawka, IL. Mr. Thompson was Vice President of Burlington Basket. He was on the Levy Board, enjoyed scuba diving, duck hunting, boating on the Mississippi and water skiing. He was a member of First Congregational Church. Survivors include his wife, Diana Thompson of Burlington; one daughter, Mandy (Denis) Blaise of West Burlington; one son, Steven (Jamie) Thompson, Jr. of West Burlington; his father, Cloud "Jupe" Thompson of Burlington; three brothers, Rick L. (Kathie) Thompson of Burlington, David H. Thompson of Burlington, and Jason C. (Dawn) Thompson of Burlington; four grandchildren, Alyssa, Tristan, Maegan and Treyton; one aunt and several cousins, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother. Following cremation, the family will be present to greet friends in Prugh's Chapel on Friday evening from 6:30 until 8 p.m. If you are attending the graveside committal service, please meet at the Sunnyside entrance of the cemetery at 10:15 a.m. A Graveside memorial service for Mr. Thompson will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Jonathan Noble officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for his grandchildren's education.
