Betty Lou Stewart, 96, of Burlington, died at 6:00 AM Friday, December 4, 2020, at her home.
Born March 3, 1924, in Davenport, IA. When Betty was five years old, she was adopted by Lillie Peterson and they moved to Burlington. On April 7, 1951, she married William "Tick" Stewart in Burlington. He died June 15, 2010.
Betty worked as a receptionist for Dr. Robert Todd and in her Mother's hat shop on Jefferson Street.
Betty enjoyed dancing, swimming, and playing tennis in her younger years. She liked to read, go to movies, traveling with her mother and shopping. She loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include two sons, William (Karen) Stewart of Burlington, Bradley (Tammy) Stewart of Riverside, IA; four grandsons, Doug, Kory, Bennett, and Owen; and special friend, Chris Kolarik of Iowa City.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her adopted mother; grandparents; Aunt Hattie Peterson & Uncle John Peterson.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Monday, December 7, 2020 at Prugh Thielen Funeral Home. Due to Governor Reynolds mandate regarding funeral gatherings, attendees are requested to pull under the front awning and stay in their vehicles until ushered inside.
The Graveside Committal Service for Mrs. Stewart will be Monday, December 7, 2020 at Aspen Grove Cemetery following the visitation.
A memorial has been established.
