Dorothy Marie Buckley, 91, formerly of West Burlington, died May 22, 2019, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
She was born in Burlington, Iowa, on June 29, 1927, and was the daughter of Luther Frederick and Ruth Molly Knoener Nelson. She had three sisters and four brothers.
Dorothy graduated from Burlington High School in 1945. She worked for the Union Supply Company and later the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant.
In 1947, she married William H. Breuer; they divorced. Dorothy was a devoted mother and homemaker who raised four children. She was a Girl Scout and Brownie leader, as well as a member of First United Church of Christ, Shining Star Circle and Women of the Moose Lodge.
In 1988, Dorothy married John Buckley, who brought much joy into her life. During her retirement, she enjoyed baking, crafting, sewing and potting flowers.
Survivors include son Bill of Colorado; daughters Diana (Lyle) of Florida and Linda (Dave) of Florida; sister Lois Hunt of Pennsylvania; stepson Sam (Colleen) of Iowa; grandchildren Kim, Tammy, Tricia, Adam, Lance, Kris and Madison; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Kristina, stepson Mike, four brothers, two sisters and her husband, John Buckley.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Thursday, May 30, 2019 First United Church of Christ.
The funeral service for Mrs. Buckley will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 30, 2019 at First United Church of Christ with Pastor JudyAnn Morse officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be at First United Church of Christ following the burial.
A memorial has been established for First United Church of Christ.
