Edwin James Heckenberg, 75, of Burlington, died at 5 a.m. Monday, march 19, 2007, at his home. Born Aug. 27, 1931, in Burlington, he was the son of Albert George and Madeline Helen Mosena Heckenberg. On Nov. 19, 1950, he married Rena Timmerman at Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington. Mr. Heckenberg drove a truck for Sturn Freightways Inc. for 26 years, and for Hyman Freightways for 10 years.He was of the Christian faith. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 218, which is now 238, and of Two Million Mile Club of Accident Free Driving. He was an avid golfer and bowled in the Industrial League for 25 years. He enjoyed gardening and traveling. Survivors include his wife of Burlington, one daughter, Pamela Gustafson of Burlington; three sons, Jerry Heckeneberg, both of Burlington, and Steven W. Heckenberg of West Burlington; seven grandsons; two brothers, Albert F. Heckenberg of New London and Arthur Heckenberg of Burlington; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one sister and one brother. As per his request. cremation has been accorded. A private family inurnment will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Prugh Funeral Services has assisted the family with arrangements.
