Obituary
Mr. Everett Lee Hatch, 88, of Burlington, died at 8:05 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2021, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born July 26, 1933 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, he was the son of Walter William and Anna Marie (Scott) Hatch. He married Martha M. Scott February 22, 1955 in Mt. Pleasant and she preceded him in death on October 19, 1983. Everett and Judy Kay Furnald became life partners in 1988 and remained together until his passing.
Everett graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and Iowa Wesleyan College with a degree in Religious Studies. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the United States Army. He worked as a Metropolitan Life Insurance Agent in Burlington from 1960 until 1988.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Burlington, Moose Lodge #579, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #150. He enjoyed bowling, traveling, playing pool, darts, boating, racing, and fishing trips to Minnesota. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan, and enjoyed Saturday afternoon movie matinees with Judy and family where he would get his afternoon nap in. Everett enjoyed going to the Casino and investing in lottery tickets.
Surviving are; Judy Kay Furnald of Burlington; his children, David (Connie Reynolds) Hatch of Burlington, Jacqueline (Keith)Richardson Price of Ogden, UT; seven grandchildren, Scott, Eric, Ben, Chad, Rachel, Maddie, and Alex; three great grandchildren, Kolbie, Collins, and Jove; sister, Martha Queen of Keokuk; and Judy’s sons which he included as his own, Nick Furnald of Omaha, NE, Jay Furnald of Minneapolis, MN, and Peter (Kathy) Furnald of Burlington.
Everett was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one sister Virginia and one brother Jim.
The funeral service for Everett Lee Hatch will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 9th in Lunning Chapel with Rev. Melisa Bracht-Wagner officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard and the Army. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8th, where the family will receive friends 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in Lunning Chapel.
A memorial to the Donor’s choice has been established in memory of Everett Lee Hatch.
