Donald Lee Dixon, 86, of Burlington, died Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born September 10, 1934, in Spring Grove, IA, he was the son of Harold and Flossie Stanly Dixon. On February 13, 1960, he married Linda Ann Hoffman in Burlington. She died on October 3, 2012.
Don served in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed his career as a carpenter at IAAP.
Don was a member of the Eagles Club, the Carpenter's Union and Mended Hearts. He was a fan of the Burlington Bee's, the St. Louis Cardinal's and the Iowa Hawkeye's. He was an avid bowler and was a member of the Bowlers Hall of Fame. He was very active in the Poker Players Club at The Village Coop and enjoyed the friendship created at The Village.
Survivors include one brother, George Dixon of Ft. Worth, TX; and one sister, Norma (Skip) Gillis of Burlington, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James.
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 7:00 PM with family present from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The Graveside Committal Service for Mr. Dixon will be 1:00 PM Thursday, November 19, 2020, at Aspen Grove Cemetery with Rev. Tamara Wirt officiating. Those wishing to attend the service will meet at the Sunnyside Avenue gate prior to the service for a procession to the gravesite.
Due to concerns regarding COVID-19, masks and social distancing are required.
A memorial has been established for Grace United Methodist Church.
