Ellen Roberta Jones Harris, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at The Citadel of Elizabeth City, NC. Born in Middletown, IA on October 16, 1932 to the late Robert Hayden Jones and Ellenor Caroline Gregg Jones, she was the widow of Howard Edward Harris.
She is survived by her children, Deborah Christine Barbeln (Thomas) of Wilmington, NC, Lori Lynn Hicks (Larry) of Macomb, IL, and Howard Russell Harris (Lisa) of Camden, NC; eight grandchildren, Damian Hofmann (Gina) of Friant, CA, Dustin Hofmann of Sperry, IA, Tia Kingsbury (Treston) of St. Louis, MO; Phillip Klees of Ft. Collins, CO, Machele Osborn-Bey (Chris) of Burlington, IA, Derek Hofmann (Megan) of Rochester, MN, Brayden Bergren of Mediapolis, IA, David Hicks of Macomb, IL, and Sara Harris of Camden, NC; and her siblings, Elizabeth Jones Underwood of Marion, IA, Edmund Copelin of Huntington Beach, CA, and Kathleen Copelin Pastula of Shingle Springs, CA. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Jones Moyer of Burlington, IA; two brothers, Leon Copelin of Palm Springs, CA and Robert Jones of Grand Prairie, TX; and daughters, Gina Renee Harris of Burlington, IA and Lyndell Marie Wilson of West Burlington, IA.
