Ralph R. Gugeler, 93, of Burlington died Saturday, February 18, 2023 at his home.
Born, July 28, 1929 in Burlington, he was the son of Oscar William and Ferne Maurine (Gehring) Gugeler.
Ralph graduated from Burlington High School in 1947. He was a member of the National Guard. On February 26, 1950 he married Margie Jane Reid in Burlington. She died October 4, 2011.
Ralph worked at J.I. Case and was also a self-employed carpenter.
He was a member of West Avenue Baptist Church, member of the International Gospel League. Ralph was a previous member of the Gold Wing Club. He enjoyed motorcycles, craft shows, metal detecting and camping.
Survivors include his children Yvonne (Tom) Trimble and Gail (Maurice) Samuel both of Burlington, Sheila (Roger) Baker of Denmark, IA, Roger (Martie) Gugeler of Oquawka, IL, Allen (Monica) Gugeler of Oakville, IA; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Norma Hoelzen and three brothers.
The funeral service for Mr. Gugeler will be 1pm Friday, February 24th at West Avenue Baptist Church with pastor Dan Weinreich officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Thursday, February 23rd at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends 5pm to 7pm.
Memorials have been established for Compassus Hospice and West Avenue Baptist Church.
