Charles Wills

Burlington - Charles William Wills, 92, of Burlington, died at 2:50 PM Friday, May 21, 2021, at the OakView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington.

Born June 5, 1928, in Burlington, he was the son of Horace Edgar and Virginia Louise Wills. On July 6, 1949, he married Ethel Mae Clark in Burlington.

He worked as an electrician for Burlington Northern shops for 42 years.

He was a 1947 graduate of Burlington High School.

He was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He enjoyed collecting coins, attending auctions, and gardening. He liked camping in his Starcraft pop-up camper, one of his favorite camping destinations being Rathbun Lake. Charles was known for always having his camcorder on him, using it most importantly to take videos and make memories with his grandchildren.

Survivors include wife, Ethel Mae Wills of Burlington; three children, Gerald W (Joyce) Wills of Burlington, Debra (Robert) Manning of Stronghurst, IL, and Michael C Wills of West Burlington; three grandchildren, Shane (Margie) Royer of Burlington, Rachel Manning of Burlington, and Justin Manning of Stronghurst, IL; two great-grandchildren, Emma Jane Manning and Kinleigh Dameron; and several nieces and nephews..

He is preceded in death by one daughter, Christine Royer, two brothers, James and Harold Wills, and one sister, Shirley Gerst.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Per the families wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
