Mary E. Aringdale, 83 of Burlington, died at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Bickford Cottage, where she resided.
Born February 19, 1937 in Burlington, IA. She was the daughter of Ralph H. and Ethel I. (Kochwasser) Dankwardt. She married Robert F. Aringdale June 12, 1971 at St. John Catholic Church. He died February 2, 2012.
Mary graduated from Burlington Catholic High School and Notre Dame College of St. Louis. She attained her Masters Degree from Western Illinois University.
She was a teacher at Burlington Community School District for 25 years.
Mary was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and the Burlington Education Association.
She enjoyed playing keyboard, and watching the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes play.
Survivors include her cat “Precious”; and her nine nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Marjorie Roberts and Joanne Burgus, and infant brother, Donald.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Aringdale will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 12th at St. John Catholic Church. The Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz will be celebrant. Interment will be in Aspen Grove cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass where family will receive friends. Social distancing and masks will be required due to Covid-19. Friends may call from 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2020 at Lunning Chapel.
Memorials have been established for the care of “Precious” at Bickford Cottage and Divine Mercy Parish.
