Mrs. Dorothy L. Dorothy, 92, of Burlington, died at 10:20 a.m. Friday March 6, 2020 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, IA.
Born March 17, 1927, she was the daughter of Roy “Jerry” and Geneva “Jane” (Willeford) McNeil. She married Warren K. Anderson December 28, 1946 in Iowa City, IA. They later divorced. She married Duane H. “Cy” Dorothy January 14, 1978 in Burlington. He died October 16, 2002.
Dorothy graduated from Burlington High School in 1945. She worked in wire harness production at General Electric for 15 years until her retirement in 1989 at the age of 62.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
She was a charter member of the fraternal order of the Eagles Aerie Auxiliary #150. She was involved in the memorial committee at Grace United Methodist Church and the G.E. Retirees Group. She enjoyed bowling, and following all sports, especially the Blackhawks and Grayhounds. She had many hobbies including reading, sewing, listening to country and gospel music. She loved her cats and trips to Branson, Missouri.
Survivors include her son Jerry L. (Julie) Anderson of Burlington; four grandchildren, David (Cristina Coppi) Bertlshofer of Johnston, IA, Brian (Misty) Bertlshofer, Kahri (Adam) Plein, and Brock Anderson, all of Burlington; and six great-grandchildren, Makayla Bertlshofer of Iowa City, IA, Emily Bertlshofer of Johnston, IA, Tyce Bertlshofer, Bryn Bertlshofer, Aila Plein, and Kaya Plein, all of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tom Bertlshofer.
The funeral service for Mrs. Dorothy will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 11th at Lunning Chapel. Rev. Tamara Wirt will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
Memorials for Hope Haven and Grace United Methodist have been established.
