Vinnie L Williams, 70, of Burlington, died at 5:54 pm Monday, January 18, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
Born September 18, 1950, in Mississippi, she was the daughter of James Lee and Willie Mae Pearson. She married John Sidney Williams and they were together for over 50 years. He later passed in 2007.
She spent some years working for Hope Haven, Burlington Medical Center, but spent the greater part of her life being a homemaker.
She was a member of Pentecostal Christian Faith Temple Church of God and Christ. Vinnie was loved by many people in Burlington. She had an incredible sense of humor, and never sugar coated anything. She was a people person, who loved going on walks, gardening, and fishing. She loved to cook, loved to dance, and loved listening to music. Most of all, she loved her family. Vinnie was a strong woman, this was best exemplified in her perseverance through 21 years of dialysis.
Survivors include one son, Tracy Earl Williams of Burlington; three daughters, Betty Jean (Derrick) Robinson of Davenport, IA, Stacie Anne Williams of Burlington, and Cindy Denise Jones of Burlington; 22 grandkids, 19 great-grandkids, 10 siblings, Jamie Lee Pearson Jr., Frank James (Wilma) Pearson Sr., Jessie James Pearson, Flora Lee Wilkins, Rosie Lee Williams, Shirley Anne Turner, Dorothy Jean Pearson, Cleo Nash, all of Burlington and Hattie Jean (Floyd) Banks, of Indianola MS and Mae Pearson, of Meridian MS, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, James Lee Pearson Sr. and Willie Mae Pearson, one brother James Daniel Gomillia, one grandson, Curtis Jr. one great-grandson, two sisters-in-law Denise Pearson and Sharon Pearson, and one son-in-law Curtis Jones.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral home.
The funeral service for Mrs. Williams will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Supt. Mr. Fred Starling officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Due to the concerns regarding COVID-19, masks and social distancing will be required.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Hope Haven.
