Obituary
Robert Galvin, 83, of Burlington, died at 9:48 AM Saturday, January 20, 2018, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born March 14, 1934, in Burlington, he was the son of Walter and Gertrude Galvin. On September 20, 1997, he married Cindy Bischoff in Grand Blanc, MI.
He worked as a Industrial Arts Teacher at Long Beach Unified School District in California for 30 years.
He enjoyed playing pool and card games such as Gin Rummy and Poker. In the mornings, he watched Westerns with his kitty PeeWee. On nice, sunny days, he enjoyed taking his convertible around Burlington and reminiscing about his childhood. He was a very sweet soul and loved to be loved. Robert’s gift was to bring laughter to everyone he met. He passed completely surrounded by people who loved him very much.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Michael Galvin; one daughter, Gina Galvin; one step-son, Matthew (Tricia) Price; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter (Jean) Galvin, and George (Luana) Galvin; several nieces and nephews; his best friend, Ken Smith; and his beloved kitty, PeeWee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, James Galvin.
A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society
