Larry Eugene Hoenig, 69, of Burlington, died at 5:29 PM Monday, July 2, 2018, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born December 10, 1948, in Burlington, he was the son of Bernard and Lorraine Mary Ertz Hoenig. On November 21, 1970, he married Kathryn Anne Uecker in Burlington.
He worked at Champion Sparkplug as a manufacturer for 32 and a half years.
He was a Vietnam Army Veteran, serving his country for 32 and a half years.
He was of Catholic faith and was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. He enjoyed golf, traveling, reading, baking and "Da Bears". He loved to spend time with his wife, kids and grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn of Burlington; one daughter, Jill Morey of Burlington; two sons, Andy (Christine) Hoenig of Mt. Pleasant and Brad (Jennifer) Hoenig of Burlington; six grandchildren: Megan, Jarrett, Matthew, Caleb, Emily and Grace; two sisters, Colleen (Darrius) Baker of Phoenix, AZ, and Tara (Paul) Koestner of Centerville, IA; one brother, Jerry Hoenig of Burlington; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Kenneth Hoenig, and one sister, Collette High.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Friday, July 6, 2018, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The Memorial Service for Mr. Hoenig will be 11:00 AM Friday, July 6, 2018, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Full military honors will be rendered by the Iowa National Guard. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Village Co-Op in the Commons Room following the burial.
A memorial has been established for the Retinitis Pigmentosa International Organization.
