Obituary
Florence E. Landes-Johnson, 94, of Mission, TX, formerly of West Burlington, Iowa passed on March 26th, 2019 in Mission, Texas.
Florence was born on August 19th, 1924 in Des Moines County, Iowa. She was the daughter of James and Gertrude Swanger. She married Quintin Johnson in 1975; he later passed on February 4th, 2002. She was previously married to Alva Landes, the father of her son Leland.
Family always came first for Florence. She was devoted to caring for Leland and Lutche, her son and daughter in-law, and Derek and Lauren, her grandkids. She always wanted to protect them from harm, and had an unwavering love for them until the day she passed. Florence was a fabulous cook and homemaker; she kept things immaculate. Florence was a hard worker, who was and always will be a model to her family. She was frugal when it came to herself but jumped at any chance to help her grandkids. Nothing was too much when it came to them.
She loved her dog Cutie, who she rescued from the pound. She was her pride and joy, and reason for waking up each day. In her last day's Cutie brought her nothing but joy. She passed with Cutie resting peacefully on her lap. The two were devoted to one another.
Survivors include her son, Leland and his wife Lutche Landes of Mission, Texas. Derek Landes and his mother Connie Osborne of Burlington, Iowa. Granddaughter, Lauren Landes of Athens, Georgia. As well as her two nieces Marilyn and Shirley.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Gertrude, her husband Quintin, 4 sisters and 1 brother; Violet Tieman, Beulah Darrah, Martha Paris, Esther Swanger, and Floyd Swanger.
The funeral service for Florence will be at 10:30am on Tuesday, April 2nd at Lunning Chapel. Family and friends are welcome prior to the service at 9am for visitation up until the time of service. Rev. David Yonker will be officiating the service. Interment will be held at Aspen Grove Cemetery followed by lunch for family and friends at Lunning Chapel.
