The journey of life for Barbara Ann Kissinger ended when she went to be with the Lord in heaven on November 16, 2019.
Born September 4, 1933 in Iowa Falls, IA to Curt and Meryle (Davidson) Hallman. Barb went to school in Eldora, IA and finished in Burlington, graduating in 1951. She married Gerald Rogers Kissinger on October 31, 1952 in Arlington, VA, and had 6 children together.
She had a long career in the crafts and collectibles field. She designed and marketed her own line of wooden folk-art Santas that were sold in 30 states. Other design projects include embroidery patterns for VSM Sewing Inc. and wooden craft items for Better Homes and Gardens Magazine. In addition to researching and collecting materials about the history of Christmas, Barb, dressed as Mrs. Claus, has also given holiday presentations to schoolchildren and various clubs in Burlington. She wrote and had published two Christmas books and a Mother Goose book of rhymes.
She was a member of the Art Guild for many years and attended Heritage Baptist Church, where she was baptized.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 48 years; her parents; her son, Daniel Patrick; daughter, Kelly Ann; and two brothers.
Left with memories are her three daughters, Tracy Ann (Jim) Poffenbarger, Lori Ann (Bill) Bloomberg, and Erin Kathleen Kissinger; one son, Kyle David (Sundi) Kissinger; daughter-in-law, Terry Kissinger; nine grandchildren, Troy, Jessica, Kyle, Sunshine, Ben, Ariel, Wesley, Kelli, and Koen; fifteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Diane Hallman Mansheim and Eileen Johnson.
Visitation for Barbara will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 20th at Lunning Chapel. Barbara will be reunited with her husband, Gerald, in burial at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel.
Memorials have been established for the Burlington Public Library, Art Guild of Burlington, and the Des Moines County Historical Society.
