Obituary

Ruth E. Hunt, 99, of Burlington died at 11:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Klein Center of GRMC in West Burlington. Born April 7, 1917 near Middletown, she was the daughter of Oscar and Jennie Martin Obermann. She married Robert Dockendorff on Sept. 29, 1945 at Wever. He preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1947. She later married Harold B. Hunt on May 3, 1958 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington. He also preceded her in death on July 22, 1998. She was a 1935 graduate of Danville High School later taking summer courses at Iowa Wesleyan College. Mrs. Hunt taught in rural schools for several years and later was employed at F & M Bank. She was a member of the West Hill United Methodist Church and the Sunshine Circle. Survivors include two nieces, Colleen J. Carlson of Chicago, IL, and Joyce Veach of Cedar Falls; one nephew, Jack D. Reif of Wapello; two great nieces and one great nephew; and several cousins. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her sister, Grace L. Reif. The funeral service for Mrs. Hunt will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 21st, at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Dave Bracht-Wagner officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial has been established for West Hill United Methodist Church.
