Pat Hemmie, 82, of West Burlington, died at 1:00 AM Tuesday, March 10, 2020, in West Burlington.
Born July 10, 1937, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Fay and Dora Sipes Hartman. She married John Paul Smith, he preceded her in death. In 1987, she married Dale Lee Hemmie. He preceded her in death in 2016.
Pat retired as a receptionist for Champion Spark Plug.
She was of Catholic faith and was a member of Divine Mercy Parish-SS. Mary and Patrick Church. Pat enjoyed cooking and socializing, especially with her class reunion group, The Red Hat Ladies and The Champion girls. She also loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and her dog Zoe. She was fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and liked going to games as well as watching them on TV.
Survivors include two sons, Scott (Molly) Smith and Mike (Lisa) Smith both of Burlington; one daughter, Susie Davis of O'Fallon, MO; four step-sons and three step-daughters; eight grandchildren: Megan, Kiley, Lindsay, Devin, Michael, Andrea, Abbie and Jacob; five great-grandchildren: Kade, Elijah, Fallon, Lucy and Sadie; many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews; one sister Carolyn Pietzsch of West Des Moines, IA; and nephew, Steve Hartman of Middletown who grew up with Pat in the same household.
She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands and one brother Bob Hartman.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Friday, March 13, 2020 at Divine Mercy Parish-SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Pat will be 11:00 AM Friday, March 13, 2020, at Divine Mercy Parish-SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church with Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the fellowship hall of SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church following the service.
Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice and St Jude's Children's Hospital.
Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory following the service.
Interment will be in Aspen grove Cemetery at a later date.
