Roberta Virginia Hoelzen, 93, of Burlington, died at 8:00 AM Saturday, March 23, 2019, at her home.
Born March 23, 1926, in Santa Fe, NM, she was the daughter of Homer A. and Olive E. Hewitt McCallum. She married Elmer Hoelzen on May 8, 1944. He later passed on January 10, 1959.
She did clerical work for the US Government.
Roberta enjoyed bird watching, knitting, craft work and traveling. She routinely put others ahead of herself and knew how to have fun. Roberta loved her Lord and was an extremely generous, kind person. She loved her family, cats, dogs and especially enjoyed when the grandchildren would come to visit.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathy (David) Bessine of Burlington, Shirley (Mark) Elliott of Maxwell, IA and Judy (Gary) Honts of Evansdale, IA; six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Roberta was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM with the family to receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Friday, March 29, 2019 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Roberta will be 11:00 AM Friday, March 29, 2019, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Brad Cranston officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the burial.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House.
