Donna Norma Hobbs, 91, of Burlington, died Monday, September 5, 2022, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born November 5, 1930, in Yellow Springs Township, IA, she was the daughter of John Henry and Evelyn Deloris Lyons Mehaffy. On February 5, 1950, she married Richard William Hobbs in Burlington. He died on August 18, 1992.
She was a 1948 graduate of Burlington High School.
Donna worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for 37 years. She retired as administrative assistant in 1987.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed knitting and reading. She loved animals, especially dogs. Donna liked to do crosswords, play cards and enjoyed looking up her family genealogy and create books based on what she found.
Survivors include her brother, Kenneth Mehaffy of Cedar Rapids; sister, Joyce Davis of Burlington, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Ramona Byerly, brothers-in-law, Dale Byerly, Marvin Davis, and Bernard (Bub) Wagner; sister-in-law, Jeannette Mehaffy; two nephews, Marvin Mehaffy and Keith Byerly.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM with the family to receive friends Monday, September 12, 2022 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The memorial service for Mrs. Hobbs will be 11:00 AM Monday, September 12, 2022, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Des Moines County Humane Society.
