Marjorie Ann Clark Hampton, 83, of Burlington died Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born January 26, 1935 in Milan, Missouri she was the daughter of George W. and Myrtle Glidewell Clark.
She went to a one room country school and then graduated from Milan High School. She married Edwin D. Hampton on April 4, 1953 in Milan, Missouri. He died June 3, 2000.
Marjorie moved to Burlington after the birth of their first child (born in her childhood home). She worked at Sylvania for 10 years until it closed. She then went to work for General Electric and worked there for 25 years until her retirement in 1995.
She was a member of First Christian Church ~ Disciples of Christ.
She was a good mother, she always came home after work and cooked a good supper for her family. She loved working in her flower beds and enjoyed traveling to Arizona in the winter. She had a wonderful smile and made lasting impressions with people. She spent endless time with her grandchildren.
Marjorie is survived by her three children; Debbie (Rich) Kyle of Wever, Iowa, Tammie King of Oxford, Iowa and Terry Hampton of Burlington; one step son Paul Neff of Illinois; seven grandchildren, Craig (Jodi), Scott, Casie (Chase), Reagan (Nick), Vince (Tayrn), Mitch (Liz) and Tori; 12 great grandchildren, Tyler, Peyton, Asher, Taylor, Brock, Mariah, Asher, Beckett, Harper, Quincy, Kynlee and baby King; several nieces and nephews; and long-time family friend, John Ibbotson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, Raymond Clark, Leonard Clark, Marion Clark and Francis Clark and four sisters, Lorene Fichtenkort, Georgie Spencer, Ella Sykes and Lulla Bell Clark.
The funeral service for Mrs. Hampton will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 21st at First Christian Church ~ Disciples of Christ. The Rev. David Yonker will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral service.
