Daniel "Dan" R. Goble, 72, of Danville, Virginia, formerly of Burlington, died Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.
Born February 16, 1947 in Burlington, he was the son of Alfred and Grace (Schulz) Goble. He married Rosanne Hoffman on September 16, 1978 in Burlington.
Dan worked for J.I.Case for 30 years until his retirement in 2001. After his retirement he served as the activities assistant at the Great River Klein Center until he moved to Virginia in 2005.
He was a former member of Harmony Bible Church and was a current member of the Mt. Herman Baptist Church in Danville, Virginia.
He was a member of the Danville Master Gardners. He loved gardening, collecting and dealing in antiques and was a historian. He had an extensive collection of Burlington history in postcards and other items.
Survivors include his wife Rosanne Goble of Danville, Virginia; two daughters, Melanie Goble and Melissa Goble both of Peoria, Illinois; step-son Michael Cummings of Warren, Pennsylvania; one granddaughter Raven Cummings of Madison, Wisconsin; his twin sister Diane Coleman of Burlington; two brothers, James Goble of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Robert (Joan) Goble of West Burlington; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Joseph Coleman and sister-in-law Sharon Goble.
The funeral service for Dan will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 27th at Lunning Chapel. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 26th at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Danville, Virginia.
