Lois Kay Wiegard, 69, of Burlington, died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Great River Medical Center from Covid-19.
Born May 15, 1951, in Burlington, IA, she was the daughter of Elmer LeRoy and Matilda Cecelia (Block) Perkins. Lois graduated in 1969 from Burlington High School and married Dennis Wiegard on August 24, 1974, and they later divorced.
Lois worked as a dispatcher for Liberty Transportation and then W.W. Transport for 21 years and worked part-time for Hy-Vee until Covid-19 hit. She was of the Christian Faith and enjoyed Gardening, Crafts, reading and chasing her grandchildren. She lived for her family.
Survivors include her five children; Roxane (Bob) Pratt of West Burlington, IA, twins Amanda (John) Gleason of Solon, IA and Brandi (Tony) Knotts of Burlington, IA, Melanie Wiegard of North Bend, OR, and Dustin Wiegard of Phoenix, AZ; nine grandchildren, Jacob, Lucas, Kaylee, Isaac, Jewelie, Evan, Grant, Wesley, and Grace; two sisters, Celia Crawford of Burlington, IA, and Margery Hasbrouck of Mt. Pleasant, SC; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Private family graveside services and inurnment will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery next to her parents. Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established for the front-line workers at GRMC ICU and COVID unit, and Art Center of Burlington for the “heArt for Heart, a community of caring” project for COVID-19 patients.
