Obituary

Kirk Richard Swanson, 54, of West Burlington, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, January 24, 2021 at his home.
Born March 20, 1966 he was the son of Robert and Linda (Carlson) Swanson. He married Susan Swanson on June 16, 1995 in Burlington, Iowa.
Kirk was a machinist for 25 years and retired in 2018. He was a member of Meyers Marina and a lifetime member of the NRA.
He was the biggest river rat there ever was! He loved deer hunting and fishing, boating and teasing his kids. His time spent with his friends and family was the most important to him. He was a simple man and enjoyed life.
Survivors include his wife Susan; his parents; and his four children, Lisa (Nate) Knapp of Gladstone, IL, Joshua (Jill) Bowman of Burlington, IA, Joseph (Joni) Bowman of Burlington, IA, and Ashley Bowman (Paul Greco) of Naples, FL and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents.
The funeral service for “Swanie” will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 29th at Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Paul Hermansen will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28th at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.
A memorial has been established for Bethany Lutheran Church.
