Obituary
On November 9, 2022, Norman Eugene Marrah, loving husband and father passed away at the age of 79, in Prescott Valley, Arizona. He was surrounded by his wife and daughters who loved him more than anything else in the world. He will be dearly missed.
Norman was born on June 8, 1943, in Monmouth, Illinois, to John Joseph Marrah and Louise Annetta Marrah. He was a 1961 graduate of Burlington High School. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology in 1969 from Iowa Wesleyan University in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
On May 1, 1966, he married his loving wife, Diane Walker. They raised two daughters, Lisa and Jennifer.
Norman worked as a public health official for over 45 years in the environmental health sector. He specialized in food protection and inspection. He retired as a reginal manage for Environmental Health for the state of Nevada, and as a commissioned office in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Norman was active in the Boy Scouts of America earning both Eagle Scout Award and the God and Country Award. As a young man he became a Scout Master and served as a volunteer at Camp Eastman.
Norman was an avid sweepstakes and contest enthusiast. His hobby helped him to enjoy many family adventures to Alaska, Disney parks and road trips across America. He also enjoyed collecting Native American and Western art. He was known for his generosity, kindness and fun-loving nature. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, John Joseph and Louise Annetta Marrah; and sisters, Mary Danielson and Dorothy Oliff.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Diane; his two daughters, Lisa and Jennifer; and two nephews and nieces.
Graveside service to be held at 10 a.m. May 6, at Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa.
