Robert "Bob" Deggendorf, 81, of Burlington, died at 10:58 AM Friday, November 4, 2016, at the Great River Hospice House.
Born February 11, 1935, in Dubuque, IA, he was the son of Joseph William and Margaret M. Roepsch Deggendorf. On February 14, 1959, he married Sharon Dill in Wardel, MO.
Robert was a truck diesel mechanic for 43 years. During that time he worked for Burlington Farm Machinery and Penske Truck Leasing. He also founded and operated Bob's 34 Truck Repair.
He graduated from Loras Academy in 1953.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War from March 1954 until July 1957.
He was of Catholic Faith. Robert was a member of Eagles #150 & Moose Lodge #579. He was a Cub Scout Leader for Pack 8 at Corse School, he enjoyed gardening, country dancing and R/C model air planes.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Steve (Angie) Deggendorf of Danville, Mark Deggendorf of Colorado Springs, CO, Mike (Judy) Deggendorf of Bonner Springs, KS; seven grandchildren, Taylor, Joshua, Ian, Luke, Caroline, Maria, Matthew; two brothers, Joseph "Bill" Deggendorf of Oceanside, CA, Terry Deggendorf of North Hampton, MA; one sister, Margie James of Sperry; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, James J. Deggendorf.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
Visitation will be Monday, November 7, 2016, from 8:30 AM until 10:30 AM with the family to receive friends from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home.
The memorial service for Mr. Deggendorf will be Monday at 10:30 AM with Reverend Father Michael T. Phillips officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the service.
Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice, Moose Lodge #579 and Steamboat Senior Citizens.
