Obituary
Ted P. Lewis, 75, of 4610 Aspen Lane NE, died Saturday in St. Luke's Hospital after a short illness. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Tuesday. St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Inurnment: church columbarium. There will be no visitation. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Janithe; a son, Kent of Burlington; a daughter, Karen Cyr of Kensington, Md.; two sisters, Irene Austin and Beverly Duncan, both of Sac City; and a brother, Cliff of Vacaville, Calif. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Sean, Ethan and Lisl Lewis. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert; and his parents. Ted was born Nov. 9, 1917, in Sac City, the son of Philip and Ida Lewis. He graduated from the University of Iowa, the University of Iowa Law school in1943, and was admitted to the bar in 1943. He married Jnithe E. Propst on Dec. 2, 1944, in Iowa City. He was an attorney with the legal department of Iowa Electric Light and Power Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1983, and would have been honored this June as a 50-year member of Iowa Bar Association. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Linn County Republican Party, Iowa Electric Retirees Club, was a 32nd degree mason and a member of Mount Hermon Masonic Lodge 263 Af & Am and was active with Boy Scouts. The Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Memorial donations may be given to St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
