Carl “Bob” Robert Bailey, 68, of 11912 Iowa 99 No. 130, died at 11:05 am Tuesday, Oct. 29, 1996, at his residence.
Born Oct. 20, 1928, in Burlington, he was the son of Asa and Myrna Onnilee Darrah Bailey. On June 10, 1951, he married Shirley Anna Schwartz in Burlington.
Mr. Bailey worked at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for 28 years as a draftsman and later as an engineering technician. He worked as a draftsman for the City of Burlington for three years and then as a draftsman for Burlington Medical Center part-time for six to seven years, until his retirement in February 1996.
He was an avid hunter, and fisherman and enjoyed the river. He was a member of Fraternity of Eagles 150 for 35 years, Elks Lodge, Ducks Unlimited, and the National Rifle Association. He was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Robinette Shanklin of Burlington and Anna Broughten of Gladstone, Ill.; two sons, Dave Bailey of Burlington and Allan Bailey of Danville; three granddaughters; one grandson; three great-granddaughters; one brother, Garold Bailey of Houston, Texas; four nephews and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Mr. Bailey has been cremated. Private services will be held at a later date. Prugh Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
