Kenneth Warren Ferguson, 93, of Burlington, died at 9:58 PM Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at the Blair House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born February 18, 1923, in New Sharon, IA, he was the son of Frank and Nellie Davis Ferguson. On August 30, 1947, he married Helen Arlene Bult in Keokuk, IA.
Kenneth worked for Star Kimble, was an electrician at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in World War II.
He was of Protestant faith. Kenny had many beloved hunting dogs throughout his life and loved all of his animals including his pet goat, Billie. He raised and trained English Pointers, competed in local field trials, and hunted quail and pheasants. Kenny enjoyed trail riding and Quarter Horse shows with Sherry. He and his wife, Arlene, enjoyed vegetable gardening with enough produce to also supply the neighbors. Kenny enjoyed fishing and camping with friends and family at Lake Geode and the Skunk and Mississippi Rivers. He also enjoyed spending time fishing for big catfish and just relaxing at Dave and Sherry's cabin.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Sherry Lynn (David) Zeller of Burlington; one granddaughter, Jessie (Mike) Zeller-Werle of North Liberty; one great-granddaughter, Alexis Werle of North Liberty; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Floyd Ferguson, and one sister, Irene Schuler.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
The Graveside Committal Service for Mr.Ferguson will be 11:00 am Friday, May 5, 2017, at Aspen Grove Cemetery with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice and the Des Moines County Animal Shelter.
