Kenneth John Almendinger Jr., 80, of Burlington, died at 3:25 AM Sunday, May 8, 2022, at his home.
Born November 6, 1941, in Burlington, he was the son of Kenneth John and Pauline Melba Peterson Almendinger Sr. He married Bettie Jean Ford. They later divorced.
Kenneth graduated from Burlington High School in 1962. He lettered in track, baseball and football.
He worked at his father's TV repair business then drove for Hostess/Wonder Bread for 26 years before retiring.
Kenneth met with a group of classmates once a month for a class reunion. He enjoyed fishing, camping and duck hunting. Kenneth was always able to make people laugh and loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include one son, John Almendinger of Burlington; three daughters, Kim (Kevin) Long of Burlington, Trina Menken of Riverview, FL, and Kendra (Sean) Brockett of Valrico, FL; 10 grandchildren, Natasha Long, Zackery Almendinger, Tyler Almendinger, Nikki (Jeff) Grim, Randi Almendinger, Dillon Long, Hunter Menken, Ashton, Carson, and Holton Brockett; one great-grandchild, Adalee Almendinger; one sister, Mary Granaman of Burlington; one brother, David Almendinger of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Cheryl Almendinger and his great-granddaughter, Alexis Long.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Friday, May 13, 2022 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Almendinger will be 2:00 PM Friday, May 13, 2022, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Diabetic Research.
