Marvin Mehaffy, 54, of Mount Vernon, died suddenly on March 1, 2018. Gathering of Family and Friends 3:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2018, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon, followed by a Celebration of Life and Sharing of Memories at 7:30.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Karen; children, Nicole (Jeremy) Nost and Drew Mehaffy (Tiffiney Hultquist); grandchildren, Quincy and Avery, Tiffiney’s children, Kambree and David; his parents; seven brothers and sisters; special friends, Brad Stribling and Shane Letem; numerous friends from working construction; many extended family, friends, and neighbors; and dog, Chico.
Marvin Mehaffy was born September 24, 1963, in Muscatine, Iowa, to Ken and Jeanette (Gahn) Mehaffy. He attended United Township High School in East Moline, graduating in 1982. He met Karen Randall while she was bartending at Randall’s Tap. They were married November 14, 1987, in Mount Vernon. Marv was an outdoorsy guy, and enjoyed trout fishing, camping—especially at Paradise Valley, cooking chicken and fish over the fire, driving the 4-wheeler with Chico, and kayaking. He loved riding his Harley motorcycle, playing his guitar, and spending time with his children and grandchildren, who he was very proud of. Marv was the best, hands-on grandpa, and a true role model to the kids. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Marvin was preceded in death by father-in-law, Dave Randall; special brother-in-law, Michael Parrish; grandparents; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Memorials may be directed to Marv’s family.
