Dennis L. Gawthrop, 67 of Burlington died Monday November 2, 2020 at The University Hospital in Iowa City after a long battle of Cancer.
Born June 23, 1953 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. He was the son of Walter and Halcyon (Lee) Gawthrop. He graduated from Burlington High School class of 1971. Attended college in Rochester, Minnesota with a degree in retail management.
Dennis was in retail sales his whole life. Starting out in the shoe department a JS Schramm’s while in high school. He moved to Sedalia, Missouri and managed The Roth clothing store for several years before moving to Kansas City. He was the Merchandising Manager for JC Penney for several years before returning home to Burlington. His finial job was with the Kohl’s company in West Burlington.
Dennis passion’s were photography, drawing, painting abstract pictures and playing his guitar He loved taking photos of landscapes and his surroundings.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his sister Debra Manush (John) nephew Brad Phillips (Peggy) Niece Michelle Steer (Scott) and great nephew Dylan, great niece MaKayla Phillips.
