Obituary
William Eugene "Junior" Carr Jr., 72, of Burlington, died at 12:15 am Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born February 23, 1949, in Ft. Madison, IA he was the son of William Franklin and Ilvern Mae Smalley Carr.
He worked for J.I. Case for 30 years before his retirement.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War from January 17, 1969 until January 15, 1971.
He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed going down there and socializing. He liked old western shows and soap operas, and was a long time fan of the Chicago Bears. When he wasn't at the VFW, his favorite spot was on his porch watching the cars go by. Most of all, he loved his family and his grandkids.
Survivors include two daughters, Crystal Carr of Des Moines, IA, and Leslie Henton of Arlington, TX; one son, Demond Carr of Burlington; three granddaughters, Lakurra Cannon of Des Moines, IA, Journey Carr of Burlington, and Mia Henton of Arlington, TX; one grandson, Macio Henton of Des Moines, IA; one great-grandson, Julian Werner of Des Moines, IA; significant other, Dawn Gilbert of Burlington; ex-wife and best friend, Rhonda Carr of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Willene Carr.
Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, June 7, 2021 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The Graveside Committal Service for Mr. Carr will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Aspen Grove Cemetery with Pastor Gary Cartmill officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.
A memorial has been established for the VA hospital in Iowa City.
