Carolyn Ruth Jones, 86, of Burlington, died Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.
Born June 14, 1933 in Burlington, Iowa she was the daughter of Edward Henry Schilb and Agda Lofgren. Carolyn was a graduate of Burlington Community High School. She married Harold “Ed” Edward Jones on March 1, 1951 in Galesburg, IL. He died on April 23, 2002.
Carolyn was a homemaker and was of the Protestant faith. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, bird watching, and baking. She was known for her chocolate cake!
Survivors include one son, Ronald Jones of Burlington, IA; one daughter-in-law, Vicki Jones of Milan, IL; five grandchildren, Heather Jones, Jeff Jones, Derek Jones, Sara Smith, and Danielle Schmitz; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her son Daniel Jones.
According to Carolyn’s wishes cremation has been accorded by Lunning Chapel. There will be no services held for Carolyn. A private family inurnment will be held at Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
A memorial has been established to the Great River Hospice House and they can be sent to 1306 Washington Rd. West Burlington, IA 52655.
