PATIENCE PRUGH SCHRAM
Patience Prugh Schram died on December 16, 2020, as a result of complications from dementia. Born in Burlington, IA, in 1941. Patience attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO and University of Colorado in Boulder. She spent most of her adult life in the Washington, D.C. area after moving east in 1962. Patience started her career at Woodward & Lothrop and later at the Institute for Defense Analyses. She married Richard Lee Spire II in 1966. They had two children, Richard Harding Spire II "Hardy" of Kensington, MD and Honor Coulter (Spire) Engle of Boulder, CO. Her marriage to Dick Spire ended in divorce in 1984. Patience also worked for Transeair Travel in Washington and Burdeshaw Associates in Bethesda, MD. She moved back to Iowa in 1996 where she reconnected with and married college friend Bill Schram. They later divorced. Patience moved to Longmont, CO in 2006. In addition to her children, she is survived by her twin brother Burton Prugh of Burlington, IA, daughter-in-law Tami-Lynn Spire, son-in-law Doug Engle, grandsons Richard Lee Spire III, Charles Burton Engle, Christopher Lee Engle and granddaughter Margaret Elizabeth Spire as well as many friends and extended family members. Due to COVID 19, services in Iowa will be private. A public celebration of her life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in remembrance of Patience, to TRU Community Care Hospice at 2594 Trailridge Drive East, Lafayette, CO 80026 or trucare.org/donate or the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
