Mary Lou Sheridan Smith
Mary Lou Sheridan Smith, 92 years old, died tragically on April 17th, 2020 of COVID – 19 in Chandler AZ.
Mary Lou Sheridan was born on May 3rd 1927 in Oakville Iowa. She was raised on the Sheridan farm outside of Oakville and was a graduate of Huron High School. Mary Lou moved to Burlington with her parents, Claude and Edna Sheridan, when her brother David went to serve in WW2. She met and married Richard Smith and raised 3 daughters in Burlington. They owned and operated Miller Diamond Cleaners. They enjoyed being members of the Elks Club, boating with friends on the river and other community activities.
Our mother was especially fond of dogs, giving her love and care to many of her own over the years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed jewelry design, kept up with politics and all sports.
After a move for a few years to Brooklyn Park Minnesota they retired in Sun Lakes AZ in 1989.
Mary Lou Sheridan Smith was preceded in death by her husband Richard in July 2018.
She is survived by daughters Linda {Kenneth} Branch of Lindsborg KS, Sandra {John) Schoell of Griffin GA, and Deborah {David} Richardson of Phoenix AZ, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.
Due to COVID concerns a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington IA.
