Gene Patrick Bessine, 65, of Gladstone, died at 6:55 PM Friday, June 19, 2020, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
Born May 10, 1955, in Burlington, he was the son of Richard C. and Betty Jean Sly Bessine. On June 28, 1986 he married Debra L. Thayer in Austin, Texas.
Gene worked as an operator for Champion Spark Plug and retired after 27 years.
He enjoyed shooting pool, riding his Harley, spending time on the river, and trap shooting. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Gene was one of the kindest men you would ever meet.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie of Gladstone, IL; father, Richard of Burlington, IA, three sons, Todd (Kim) House of Fort Madison, Dustin Carlson of Burlington, and Dustin (Lauren) House of New Jersey; five grandchildren, Jada, Rose, and Gavin Carlson, Damian House, and Ethan (Brittney) Allen, three sisters, Mary Moore of Austin, TX, Cindy Trammel of Austin, TX, and Kris Bessine of Burlington.
He is preceded in death by his mother, two grandsons, Ryan Allen and Matthew House and nephew Raymond Moore.
The funeral service for Mr. Bessine will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory following the service. Burial will be held at a later date
